Wildfire Recovery Efforts

Christ the Shepherd Lutheran Church as the Eaton Fire roared through the town of Altadena causing catastrophic destruction and displacing thousands of residents and their families, destroying homes, businesses and places of worship.

The Little Church with the Big Heart

CTS stands as a beacon of hope in a town that was ravaged by a wildfire like none they had seen before. Many of its members affected by the devastating flames and heat that turned a once vibrant and thriving town into a place filled with rubble and ash. Even now the tears continue to fall as residents and those who work in the community return to visit the places that were once filled with life but now nestled in blocks of cleared plots where houses and buildings once were.

And like others in the community, CTS did not allow the horror of this tragic event stop the work they are called to do. With the help of their newest Pastor, CTS has been working to raise funds for those impacted, provide essentials where they can and open their doors to their community to offer support, prayer and a place to use as they work to rebuild what was lost while continuing to serve the community in greater need than before.

Along with other faith leaders, organizations and collaborative partnerships, CTS hopes to help provide resources and support to the people most impacted and assist in easing the burdens that have now been placed. This small but mighty community, has made a commitment to not only stand by their parishioners, but the community at large and work to help rebuild and restore the place they call home to its luster and beauty. A community rich in diversity, overflowing with a compassion to serve and focused on preserving creation.

As CTS works to restore its own place to one that is safe and fully functional, they continue to lift up and embrace all who have suffered loss, displacement, overstressed and in need of support. Through partnerships, a faith in God, a dedicated leader and the support of many others, CTS is an encouragement and a much needed light in a time of darkness. We continue to pray for the work they and others are doing to keep Altadena a community worth fighting for.
